Week 9 Day 2

Today Mr. Rick doesn't come to class and he left us to do some assignments on the board. We need to finish the interview and the section "Finding Out" on the inquiry wheel. We should start working on the next section.

Mr. Hadi replaced us, but he doesn't like photos...

Week 9 Day 1

Today we need to finish with the section 2 of the inquiry wheel, finding out. This section is about research on the topic.

Umm... Okay.

So what we have to do here is discuss with our group. We need to divide the jobs for everyone. Someone must search in the internet, or the library or books. We also need sources from people, because they are reliable and they do have a lot of education for that. Since our topic is called "How did Britain control one quarter of the world by 1900", we can ask the teachers who are British for the interview. We have to prepare a questionnaire first.

I hope we get this thing done soon....

Week 8 Day 2

For the next few weeks, we're going to finish this thing, until it's done. It's gonna take forever, but let's do it!

1. Mr. Rick passes out a few bottles of perfume... and then we have to smell each one. It's a man perfume, and the bottles look colorful.

So all the group has to pass it around and has to smell each one of the bottles. They all smell like a man, of course...

And most groups agreed that the purple bottle (the second from the left, from the picture) smells the best. Well, we all have different opinions.

2. Mr. Rick is practicing out on how to do the inquiry process. We need to finish these questions for next time and until we are done with all the sections.

There are a lot of sections though... This is the example document, with the first part all done.

So now we have to finish doing the third part as well, and delete the picture of the cheese in the bottom of the document. (yes)

3. We need to work together with the group and have the interaction. It's nicer to get things all organized and well with everyone working together.

Week 8 Day 1

Mr. Rick continues to discuss on how to do the inquiry cycle.

1. We finished what we have done last class, the first part of the document. Now, Mr. Rick is going to explain how to make the second part of it. Here is a photo where Mr. Rick doesn't want it to be there...

So the second part is called "Finding out." Actually, if you don't know the inquiry cycle or the questions in it, here is a clear picture with the writings on it. Then find "Finding out".

So in this stage, we have to do a lot of research. Research is very important. You don't just look at one source, you have to look at many sources. Don't just look in the Wikipedia, go out to other websites too, like Yahoo Answers or blogs and stuff. You can ask a person that knows more than you about the same topic, to find out more about the topic. Like, do an interview and ask for more information.

2. We have to communicate a lot to get a work done. We also need to listen to the teacher for more information about the lesson.

Week 7 Day 2

Today's topic is about tuning in
we need to answer this questions

  • What do I know about this topic?
  • What do I know about my question?
  • What do I need to know?
  • What could an answer be?
  • What are the phases of the inquiry process?
  • What are some possible ideas about my topic that I am interested in?
  • How do I know it?
  • What am I feeling?
  • How are my feelings likely to change during the inquiry process?
We need to answer that according to our presentation yesterday
We're not done with it by the end of the class and Mr Rick said we may continue it until tomorrow

Week 7 Day 1

Today is the submission of the projects of TEAM ACTIVITY 1.

In the beginning of class

So Mr. Rick asks us to fill in a piece of paper with the group's information. Then next we have to pick a piece of paper from the tray, and see what number we get. The order was from number 1 until 6. Our group got "6" which is the last one to present.

We need to gather around the group who is going to present their landscape. The person has 3 minutes for their presentation. In the end of their presentation we have to ask questions about the landscape or the topic.

This is our project

I hope that we get a good score.

Week 6 Day 2

Today we continue to finish the project for History. There was not much taught this lesson.

1. Mr. Rick told us a story for this class. He was surprised that he didn't tell anything about it last class.

The story took the whole lecture, so there wasn't really a lecture about the history lesson, but it was a nice story...

2. The next thing is to finish the LdL 2 for this time. There isn't a fourth member of the group so there isn't anyone teaching in the group. Here are the other groups finishing LdL

Then we finish the project for History. We need to do it quick because the submission is on Monday Week 7 Class 1 of that week.

3. We're nearly done with the landscape, so hoping that we can finish it nicely and get good scores. The group members should work together and help each other.

Week 6 Day 1

Today Mr. Rick came to class and there were two LdLs today because no one took the score for the old one.

1. The admin checking the attendance of the class

And then Mr. Rick has to calm down a student who is angry

Luckily Mr. Rick came today and gave us the topic for today. Most topics in the classes are mixtures of small topics being put together, and there is a lot of them and Mr. Rick only teaches some of the important ones.

2. Was the British Racist? (No, not now)

Before there were no machines yet, people had to use man power to do everything they need for their industry like planting crops or mining metal ores. These British needed to have cheap labor to do this, because hiring skilled people would cost a lot. If they don't have it, the economy of the British would come to a halt. So people had slaves, people who worked without being paid.

Slaves were consists of "black" people (dark skin African). The British are strong in economy because they had these slaves and they work for the British people. The British people became arrogant as they were on the top of the world. The racism in here was they bought the African people into slaves. Then they also sent them in other places too, like America where they get their raw materials from.

Also, Women were second class citizens. They don't have full rights to do everything, like voting. They also have lesser education, and no women can go to college. That time, their job was only to get married, have babies and do the housework like cooking. There were less jobs for them too. The jobs that women can find are like working in the mines. They are less paid or even not paid, as the British needs the cheap labour.

But with the help of the machines and technology, there are lesser needs of man power because there are machines working for them already. They no longer need the slaves to work like that, and finally abolished slavery. Women were now becoming equal. So there are good things about machines and technology...

3. Because Mr. Rick didn't come last class and no one took the score for the last LdL, there needs to be two LdLs. This was a problem because most of the others have forgotten what they did for their PowerPoints last class. Here is the first lecturer, still doesn't want her picture to be taken.

And then there is Mr. Rick grading it (sort of... as usual)

Then there is the next person to do the LdL.

Next class are going to be the last people to do the LdL. There is no one in our group who will teach though. So we get a break. Then we need to continue to LdL 3.

4. We need to be able to manage our time to do the project so we can finish it quickly. The due date is Week 7 Day 1, so we need to do it fast.
